So my mom gives me this little thing to clean for her today. Never heard of ROHM or anything. I've only spent about 10 minutes on google so far, but apparently this thing is a huge POS. It's chambered in 22 short and made in Germany by a company that hasn't been around since 1986. I am going to see if I can find a few videos on how to disassemble and reassemble it so I can at least give it a decent cleaning.

Anyone else have experience with this thing?

True confessions. I had one in the late 1960's. It is every bit as bad as it looks. Mine misfired constantly.

Hang onto 'till some liberals get another "gun buy back" put together - then go and make a profit.

I had one. I heard rumors that it would shoot more unburnt powder back at the shooter than it would towards the target. Mine didn't do that. I shot about 100 rounds threw it and traded it for two bricks of .22. I got it for free. While mine did work I would not recommend it as anything other than a paper weight.

What you have there is the dreaded "Saturday Night Special" of the liberal panty wetting 1960's. They were made in West Germany and struck fear into the hearts of Liberals all over the country back then and helped stop the importation of many small firearms.

In an age where CB Caps were available I would try it out at short range just for grins and then mount it in a shadow box for a conversation piece.

They were cheap pot metal guns which were banned in the 60's, after which RG went out of business. They were well-known to be "Lead-shavers." My dad told me when he was a teen "RG" was joked to be short for "Rotten gun." Ronald Reagan was nearly killed with one similar to yours (RG-14), so yeah, they suck but they can get the job done.

The pin you broke can probably be replaced with a cut-off nail or drill bit of the right size. Your mom needs to get a better gun. Hold on to that thing for barter in case of a zombie apocalypse or Red Dawn. It would make a good starter pistol, too.

I figured I would try and cut something to replace the pin. She was just given the gun recently. It was a relatives. She has a beautiful .357 mag and a really awesome .44 mag along with some other .22 that I haven't looked at closely.

    GlockOwner,

By now you've got the drift from all the previous posts. "Saturday Night Special" was the favored term with PD in the Houston area in the '50's thru the late '70's for those POS revolvers. Lot's of personal disputes in major metropolitan areas of Texas got settled in those days with "RG's". Just in case you want a pair, there is a sister currently posted on a popular weapon for sale site(snicker).

Ok I need to revive this thread, everybody get out your RG jokebook. Yes I am the less than proud owner (it was a gift) of an RG 10. Its had but one owner before and I got it from him. He paid the princely sum of $19.95 brand new from a local Houston combination drug store and pawn shop in 1969 or that general era. Its in good shape for what and how old it is. And I do shoot it now and then. I know how to get the cylinder out for the every decade deep clean. Thanks youtube.
What I would dearly like to have is a copy of the owners manual. Searched online and can't find a download. If you have or know somebody that has a manual. I would greatly appreciate a scan of it. Or a parts list? Whatever you might have. I'm gathering the story of this steel powerhouse bit by bit. When it comes to an old gun with no value the story is everything. Its sort of like an old girlfriends bulldog, so ugly its cute. Or was it her? I don't remember.

My grandfather was a pretty good poker player at one time, and accumulated a few of these through his friends.

Yes, if I had to bet my life on this gun, it would not be a good bet. The original owner tells me last time he shot it he chose a plastic trash can lid over an old metal lid. He was worried that a bullet might bounce off the metal lid and put his eye out. A story like that is why I hope to keep this little gun alive.
