In Houston, we're experiencing freezing rain. Had to scrape the windshields. Haven't had to do that since I moved from Ill-Annoy to Texas 30 years ago.
haven't scraped ice in a long time. really helps when you start her up, go back inside for 10 minutes, and just let the heater defrost go on the windshield

It was cold enough today to make parts of a man disappear so I came back inside.
I reckon it'll be the same tomorrow too.

    The Trans-Sabine
    <>

This morning in the Trans-Sabine, we have 18F, a few frozen pipes (despite wraps & drips). Our home’s exterior is frozen-over, driveway heavily iced.

Even Beau the Dog didn’t want to go out to pee.

Our bayou-side back yard was full of jacksnipe last evening.

Hunkered down with a large pot of shrimp & Andouille gumbo, defrosting the last remaining container of Tia Ma-Antonia’s 2023 menudo, have the Gore-Tex goose down parkas & long underwear out-&-ready.

    But, this Vieux Octogenarian isn’t venturing out yet. . . . . .

Looking back, it is hard to believe that I once loved to suit-up & head to the duck blinds in this Wx !

After last September’s two days of 114F real-feel in the RGV dove fields, I resolved to go only in decent WX from now on.

Also, motorcycles & iced-over roadways don’t mix well.

They don't mix? I know three mental midgets that left out of Denver in early May in the low 80's and stopped in Stugis SD in a snow storm. Rode in snow, slush and all that mess, don't recall any ice but the pucker factor was in overdrive. We rented car just to go to dinner that night. Best money we spent on that trip.

Forgot to add, this was about 15 years ago.
