Which Shotgun for Home Defense?

I used to keep the mossberg 500 loaded with an empty chamber just pick it up pump and if bad person (it isn't always a bad guy it could be a bad girl ) is still present then shoot as if they stuck around after that sound I assume that their intentions are violent. But with the baby running around now it's locked away with 5 9 pellet OO BUCK and 1 #7 high brass bird buster in the side saddle. The 9mm and the. 40 are left loaded and out of reach of little hands. My pistol is ready to rock and roll the other has a full magazine and empty chamber.

I like the pattern pictures posted that is what Buck shot really does. I'm tiered of hearing about the 10' spread of a riot gun.

It should be noted that I also have a 1 year old on the house plus 2 adults other than myself to consider when I unholster for bumps in the night so shoot first is not an option. I should have worded my first post a little better.

I agree with most of the above.
Everything depends on the tactical situation. You need to try stuff out and not just once. You need a feel for what you would be comfortable with.
I have a shot gun, a 308, a 38 special, a 9mm and 22 pistol. I've spent a lot of time renting different firearms to help me make my choices.
