Fun vid chronicling how it came into being

That was a great vid. I somehow met this guy who had a shop in Austin called River City Z. He primarily worked on Datsun 240/260/280's - however, he loved racing and somehow got all kinds of crazy cars into his shop. I re-built Z-car heads for him, and he let me use his shop. His neighbor worked on French cars. Helped him rebuild a V-12 Ferrari engine - no idea which "touring" car it was, but that was my first trip into 100+MPH land. Helped with a clutch in a Euro-spec 930 Turbo from Canada - scariest car I ever drove. It was a dog until the turbo kicked in, then it was damn near uncontrollable.

I think he put a clutch in the Le Car. We, of course, had to test it out for quality control. Holy Crap - that thing was lighting quick and handled well enough to make me not believe what that car was doing around corners. Hadn't thought about that in years.

Early 911 Turbos with the 4-speed manual we’re called Doctor Killers for good reason!

Wide gearing, tons of boost lag and drop-throttle oversteer were a bad combo.

The boost kicks in way too hard, and your natural reaction is to lift…which unloads the rear and all that weight just comes around and you go straight into a ditch, or worse.
