    Texas House Bill 2837 passed House and now pending in Senate. In summary the bill would;
    ...prohibiting a person or entity from surveilling, reporting, or tracking the purchase of firearms, ammunition, and accessories through the use of certain merchant category codes; imposing a civil penalty.

    Special interest lobbying from big banks are trying to get carve out so they aren't affected. As told by TX State Rep Matt Schaefer of Tyler during interview on 660AM The Answer if one's firearms/ammo purchases were tracked it would lead to all sorts of issues for gun owners. Right now a purchases at retail sporting goods store would only show general info, nothing specific.

    So he is asking that voters contact their state senator and let them know of their concerns. I wrote my state senator asking her to not allow the banks or any financial institution from being exempt from law prohibiting them from tracking gun/ammo purchases.
