Hello and thank you for adding me to the group. I am excited to learn from you all! Anyone know anything about amateur shooting competitions on the west side of Houston? I currently work 12 hour shifts on nights and have every other weekend off. Any info would be great.

As for shooting competitions, there are many. I suggest you go to this thread (especially this link though I think it may not be fully up to date), use it to guide you to all the web sites of the clubs within reasonable driving distance for you, and read those web sites. Every club or range will post a calendar of events on their site.

OTOH, if you're interested in a particular discipline, tell us what that is and I'm sure someone can hook you up.

The Fort Bend County chapter of the Texas Defensive Pistol Club holds weekly Saturday matches in Orchard-Wallis. I haven't been yet myself but I've heard good things.
