    Out here by the lake!
    Last weekend was opening weekend.

If you are thinking of going avoid taking 249 to it. Road construction just outside of Tomball almost to Magnolia sucks bad even when the festival is not going on.

They have doubled the amount of LEO inside the festival. TABC also has a new Executive Director Adrian Bentley Nettles, who has launched a series of reforms — and the businesses they regulate say they’ve seen a big change.

Mosquitoes are thick from the rains, as are mold spores. Pollen can be bad too if the rains have not kicked it down.

    Be safe & have fun!

    Looking forward to it!

We have ten discounted tickets to use (but we have a family with five people and friends may need some too. I’m sure we will get it done!

I helped my middle son practice garbing up in five yards of wool for a great kilt.

Wearing a true kilt last weekend would have most likely killed him. Seen a few people suffering from heat related problems. Seen more who simply drank to much.

Yeah, we are waiting a little bit hoping for cooler weather.

We can’t do the Celtic Christmas this year, sadly. Husband is on call.

Kids might though. They go separately. We don’t need to go as a family, they have their connections/ rides/ one can drive themselves.

Lots of musician friends who played there for years are giving it up this year.
While they're getting long in the tooth, most say they're disenchanted with management.

It looks like we’ve picked a good weekend to go. It’s cooler and sunny.

Going all day all weekend. Hotel three nights in Conroe.

Going up tonight to hit B52 brewery and sit outside at the fire pit.

We had a fun weekend. Husband is second from the left. The others besides me are our favorite performers: the Sound & Fury show.

Looks like fun. I use to go a couple times a year when I lived in Minnesota. My kid brother was an apprentice blacksmith and my mom was a bar wench for years. (Mom still works one of the bars)

With that being said, some of the best weekends were in the rain. Most the "normal" folk would leave. Everybody else fell into a gloomy 1200's mope and hung out.

I went to the one in Waxahachie a couple years ago, look forward to dragging my boys out again in a year or two.

My wife and I have gone every year for the last 15 years. We couldn't make it this year because life got in the way.
Next year we will go in a large group. It's more fun that way.

One of my favorite moments in the Pirate’s Sing show. Very slow and eerie singing amidst the fog (from the fog machines, haha).

    “Yo ho, haul together
    Hoist the colors high
    Heave ho, thieves and beggars
    Never shall we die.”

Here’s a vibe for what it’s like there (different song though)...

We've planned to come for the last 2 Sundays but had to canceled due to the weather. Glad you guys had fun there.

Are there any tips on when to get there to avoid huge traffic? This Sunday is the last day ...

Geez, I know I'm gettin old as I avoid crowds like the plague and would feel ridiculous in any costume. Shudder......

I went once many years ago with a bud from Brighton, England.

He was simultaneously amused and repulsed at that, that was supposed to old English. He would constantly point out the 'old English stuff' was so off the mark, all he could do was shake his head in disgust.

Conclusion: Yes, of course, getting together for some make believe is fun for many, not my cuppa tea though and don't expect anything close to what ye olde English stuff to be anything close to accurate historically.

It's fun and really, really fake.
