CA has been so successful in encouraging solar panels on homes that there is now a surplus of solar power generated during sunny days, much of which is lost due to lack of storage. This has reduced income to traditional power companies so they are raising rates to make up for it. That worked out well for the Newsome voters who cannot afford solar.
