This is Gunther, he is our black schnauzer that we rescued back in 2014.

This is Bandit. Not for sure exactly how old he is, since he was already a grown dog when he showed up around our place about four years ago. For about a month, I tried to run him off, and he wouldn't let me within fifty feet of him when he first showed up. He kept hanging around, and would get a little closer when I was in the yard with the other dogs. One day he just came up to me and dropped to the ground and rolled over. He's been my constant companion ever since, and has become my personal security consultant! He isn't aggressive, but, he is very protective of the wife and myself.

Here's my new puppy. He's half catahoula half black lab. Got him from a coworker that lives near Houston.

Almost had another pet today but decided to let it go in a pond about 1/4 mile from where I found it.

    Snapper neck stretch - 2.jpg

It makes the third turtle, two others were box turtles, I have found while out walking my mongrel - Skye Knucklehead (Knucklehead being new addition to her name).

I used to keep a musk turtle (also several other types of water turtles over the years) and had a submersible power filter in its tank along with a hang on the side power filter and a box filter or two in the tank. That kept the water relatively clean but it still needed frequent siphoning and partial water changes.

Mine stayed fairly clean, good enough to keep fish alive in the tank with the turtles. Goldfish, guppies & minnows for food and Green Aeneus Catfish to help clean things up.

Had that musk turtle, the one in the foreground - the other was a map turtle - for about 25 years before it croaked due to very unexpected and sudden unknown reasons; it seemed fine and very healthy one day and was dead the next. Never would have thought the passing of a tiny cold blooded critter like that could make me tear up but it did bring tears to my eyes when it passed on. I still think of it now and again with a twinge of sadness and it must have died 5 years ago or so; 25+- years was a long time to own a pet. I wish it would have been much longer, they can live to 75 at the extreme.
