My Cardiologist said they are very good at telling if you have had a heart attack. Not so good at predicting them. He said I could give you a clean bill of health you could walk downstairs and have a heart attack on the way out and die. Of course, there are things that we can do to mitigate the chances of a heart attack. Jim Fixx a runner died of a heart attack while on a run. So even a healthy lifestyle doesn't stop heart attacks. I think that we get warning signs and just try to push through them. I started having pains in the afternoon and then about 8:00 pm I told the wife to call the ambulance. They came and made me chew three baby aspirin 81mg. I started having a heart attack 3 minutes out from the hospital and brother it hurt something awful. Was rushed upstairs and a stent was put into in 2009. In 2011 had another stent put in. In 2017 I had a quadruple bypass. I wear a tube of Nitro around my neck on my GI ID Tags. Been thinking about getting one for some baby aspirin to hold at least 6.

Here’s a question for you guys. Is not drinking something you do? I’m thinking of not having anymore beer. Also not gonna buy chips or soda. But the no beer thing thought I’d see if any of you do it.
You don't have to stop completely. 1 or 2 drinks can have benefits. 4 or 5 a day, then you can have negative effects.

I quit drinking sodas and beer. Dropped 10 lbs really fast.

When I drink it's usually single malt scotch or vodka & cranberry juice with the wife.

Genes have a lot to do with how healthy we are. My wife and family have great genes, but they also for no apparent reason have high blood pressure.

Not one single thing that points to why they have it. Cholestorol, great.
Weight, the whole bunch is trim and fairly fit.
But last week my wife had an episode and her blood pressure hit 196/129.
Not a single thing that she can figure out except she had taken Mucinex D.
We got it down, but shes at the doctor today.

She is honestly the healthiest person I know, except for the BP issue. Great diet, exercises, gets plenty sleep.

    Its beyond weird. Genetics.

What's the point of living longer without beer?

Can't do it man. I work outside... in the summer, my body craves beer. Ice cold beer with some pickle juice or green olives is killer delicious.

I don't remember last soda I had. It's disgusting to me. My liquid intake is 75% water, 15%beer, 5% tea and %5 coffee. I drink water by the truck loads.

I’m gonna do a shameless post. Kind of related to this thread if you or know anyone in the dfw area that wants free help to stay in shape and learn some self defense. Or if you want to put some gloves on and swing at a guy to get some frustrations out. I’m still looking for people to help me train.

Flexibility problems you won’t like jui jitsu but if you’re older but like to be on your feet I could help you with stand up defense.

It is. Lol going crazy. I can’t afford to get into a school in this area. It’s not cheap. I was grandfathered in back in Oregon at 75 a month to train as much as I want. I pay 500 a year to keep my online resources open and enrollment open but I just need bodies to help me train.

In order for me to get back into the condition I need to be in to test down in south Texas, it’s gonna give free skills to those who help me.
