Hi folks, planning on buying couple of cans but undecided on either to go sig Qd route or stick with old reliable surefire socom2 . These will be in 5.56 & 7.62, with an average of 8000-10,000 rounds a year. I am mostly concern about the difference in gas blowback to shooter's face between both. I have no experience with Sig's but the huge difference in price from Surefire is looking very attractive. I will appreciate any input folks ....Thanks

I would expect that the Surefire suppressor would have much less gas blowback

There is no industry standard for increased back pressure i.e. blowback.

Different suppressors have different amounts of increased back pressure. Depending on the suppressor, you may have to have an adjustable gas block to get the weapon to work properly with that suppressor. I found with Surefire suppressors, the normal suppressed setting on adjustable gas blocks cuts off too much gas.

Ok someone educate me. But I would assume "blow back" would be the same with pretty much all cans. They are all doing the same thing.

Suppressors with tighter bores and smaller blast chambers , have more blowback as it is more difficult for gas to move forward. They are also usually quieter.

If you want to nearly eliminate blowback, run a 762 can on your 556.

I myself would also look at Rugged, DeadAir.

Ok got ya... So I would have less blow back using my Hybrid on my 223 than my Omega? I'll have to test that and see the difference.

    Thanks for the info gents.
Maybe. Maybe not. And you lose sound performance.

But don't both use the same ASR mount?
