Reading this, one word comes to mind: screwy. What a lousy home life. No wonder there are kids who have gone sideways, conflicted and have no idea who or what they are. Parents AWOL and missing in action.

I have my own opinions which would not be PC. Stories like this and this tragedy reek of progressive liberalism and the rot that permeates this pathetic ideology.

The twisted logic, reasoning and irrationality of everything they become involved in and touch is sicken.

Born to 16 and 17 year old unwed parents. Father an illegal immigrant felon. Living with a single mother with 3 kids. Not exactly the Cleaver family.

What the heck's a STEM school anyway?

STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Math

Right. As opposed to underwater basket weaving, interpretative dance and "socialism, a viable alternative to sleeping indoors and having food!"

The therapist in me is like OMG you had a POS MIA dad so you tried to become a man to fulfill that need in your life.

I had a client with a POS MIA dad try that gender dysphoria shit. She’s now MIA from therapy so IDK how it’s working out.

    (Sorry: so many acronyms.)

STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Math but one of the shooters that went to that school was in drama!

Maybe they already jumped on board with the next new thing STEAM, adding ARTS to the acronym.

    Wildcat Diva,

I prefer acronyms and thank you for speaking plainly.

The fad (I think it's a fad...mostly, the others going for it are simply mentally ill) of trying to pretend to be the opposite gender with a year of living a pretense as part of the qualification for hormones and surgery is madness.......

adding ARTS to the acronym I find it funny, how would we add perverts to it.
On a serious note, how does a pre-K to H.S. get STEM status? Basically a charter school with STEM funding?
From what I've seen of STEM curriculum, not much STEM in it.

Most kids from single parents and bad parenting grow up OK.They have their baggage just like everyone. You get old enough to understand it was bad, but it does not have to be that way. The few scarred beyond help ones will continue the cycle or do something outrageous. Thus garnering all the attention of a media with an agenda. Illegals are the problem, stupid.

Lots of kids with all kinds of 'less than ideal' upbringing end up being just fine. To wit, I don't think any family is perfect honestly. I know I'm not the perfect parent, not the perfect husband, not the perfect person, etc. I do my best and apologize when I don't.

I grew up without parents, Dad died when I was really young and Mom a few years later. Life after that was a bit rough, but I didn't fall down a dark hole. If anything I entered adulthood more prepared than my peers, since I got a head start doing things the hard way and learning from it.

In most people's opinion I had a pretty bad childhood. Very similar to some of these douchebags that do these terrible things. I have never had the thought of harming innocent people or doing a thing remotely close. I say stop blaming their environment or upbringing and start placing the responsibility on the individual. You dont get to choose the hand you are delt or how ot affects you. You can choose how you react to it.

    To the O.P., a question...............................

Was this only, or first reported by the press in the UK?

If that's the case, it is another indication of the corruptness of our "free press". The lamestream media didn't report it and the gender dysphoria because it doesn't fit their narrative.

It's the times. Corporal punishment is now considered a crime, in fact the definition is now made out to be worse than when I was a child. Coddling by parents, or parent, is how the we got those in the far left today.

I feel like our culture has undermined many of the things I’ve tried to teach as a parent. I think that many of my lessons I’ve taught never took hold due to the culture’s influence. So blaming the parents isn’t always so simple.

I also feel that both parents needing to work in order for families to stay afloat in many cases isn’t helping either. We resisted that the best we could, but the way our society is structured wasn’t optimum to enhance how I wanted to craft my family. We weren’t perfect.

Nobody’s perfect. However, there are steps society can take to help support healthy families. Our society seems determined to do the opposite.

My wife and I have worked hard to stay married for 20 years and make it so she doesn’t have to work. It’s not easy and not everyone can do it. However I think our sons benefit.
