I picked up a S&W Model 67 recently that had been converted to fire double action only, and the seller gave me the old SA/DA hammer. I want to replace the hammer and allow ther gun to be fired single action again.

What's required to do this? Is there anyhting more involved than changing the hammers out or are any additioal parts required? I've never done this before and would like some advice before tearing into this beautiful gun.

If a proper DAO conversion was done, the internals would have been massaged also.

Try this, with an unloaded gun (duh), pull the trigger just enough to get your other thumb on the hammer and see if it will "cock" or stay in single action mode. If it does, you have a lazy man's DAO conversion and should only need to replace the hammer.

I suspect this is the case as he gave you the original hammer to begin with. YMMV

BTW Nice gun, the Model 67 was my first duty gun after my M-16.
