Yep. My RIA GI model 1911A1 runs great, has never had a jam or FTF, and despite the small, non-adjustable GI sights it's damned accurate. I've got no complaints. It's my favorite gun to shoot.

I bought a Remington R1 not too long ago for about the same price and it is a great shooter. Quality seems very good and I don't think I have ever had a FTF or misfire from it. Someone just had them on sale for under $500 (Tractor Supply, maybe?) recently.
That said, I have heard mostly only good things about Rock Island and I would probably get one if I needed another 1911...
    Wait, Tractor Supply sells guns?

I have the "tactical" version (full length guide rod, skeleton hammer, adjustable skeleton trigger, ambi safety, "upgraded" sights, and other stuff I can't remember) but I actually swapped the full length guide rod with a GI rod and accompanying cap. The grips were swapped before I got it. Since it was so giant, I took the OEM ambidextrous safety off and replaced it with a GI safety. Those mods were just for preference and were in no way necessary. It has a very good trigger and is accurate.

I carry the early officer model during the late winter months. Thankfully, I have never had to use it in a self defense encounter. Trigger is excellent and a HP 230 grain bullet (not pictured) is nothing to scoff at.
