I entirely agree and can relate to health issues but age is also a consideration. I am 70 and slowing down a bit. I have no children, just me and the missus. I have done just about everything I can to preserve our home and safety. It has been an obsession since Obama was elected. Generators, unlimited water, enough food for a couple years and weapons of many kinds. My neighborhood here in the Communist Gulag of Illinois is a BLM and ANTIFA haven. Can't fly an American flag (Had two ripped down) but solid black flags are okay. I won't put out my trash unless carrying a gun.

A lot of people dependent upon medications to essentially live, would be at risk if some sort of catastrophic event occurred and supplies of their medications were cut off for a lengthy period.

I suppose some could be stocked up and stored, but some might not be able to. This might be some good questions to ask a pharmacist about the long term storage of medications and to get some ideas of how to safely store them for long term, just in case.

I do some of that, BUT once that runs out and if there's no production anymore.....4 months vs 18 months with the same result.

I'd have to buy some insulin own, since the VA provides it now. But then I'd have to figure out how long I would have fuel for the genny to power the fridge to keep the insulin cold. After that, I'd have to move close to a cold mountain creek. Right now I don't know any defensible positions next to a creek. :(

Prepping is just an endless continuing to evaluate what you have and cannot do. Stock up on Essentials. prepare to repel boarders, being able to lay down a hail of lead in any direction.
I have my property around my house staked out for deployable Nato Razor Ribbon on the perimeter.

    I prep for a 90 day supply chain interruption. 2000 calories per day-water distillation and filtration-medicine stash-dog food-2 pistols 2 rifles + 1000 minimum rounds per gun-game traps-50 gallons of fuel (cycled) -generator-multi band radio T/R- books-complete campsite package
Want to add- solar array/battery -solar water distillation rig- garden-fuel storage at my bugout site.

Very interested in touring other preppers sites and sharing ideas, like home built wind chargers and small alcohol still for fuel (methanol) with 25 hp engine.

I have a prepper friendly doc who advised me on storage techniques and medicne options that have longer shelf lives. Then she wrote a bulk script so I would get a good price and a stockpile start. I know that some meds don't store well and some schedule drugs prevent stockpiles. But do what you can do.

Lots of things to stock up on that are high trade value. Liquor! for one. I get things that do not have a shelf life. Certain kinds of Chemicals and extreme poison which may be illegal in many places but are available in other names. Sodium Cyanide, Hydrogen Cyanide, Picric Acid, Strychnine, Arsenic, Black Leaf, Hemlock extract and more. Chemical Warfare is another option.
Defense is great but if you can effectively deploy unknow fear it tends to motivate others to stay away.
    Think outside the box....

if the SHTF I hope to be at ground zero. Not going to last long without power and pills anyway. I like the idea of going down in a huge sea of expended brass. But I only have enough to leave a little puddle.
What I think is going to happen already did. Last election was a coup. SHTF won't happen, I've thought for years that the new regime would just turn off the fan. TOTF
Nobody can really do much until we notice we are all sweating. Blood will be spilled. I only hope to give the next generations a start. The current crop of radicals are sun flowers sucking at socialism like sunshine. And mistake me not, radicals are required to have a take back the country revolution.
Should a determined foe like China decide to use the coup to grow their land control I don't think the left led military will stand. Withe these leaders, what is to stand for? America will be blown up and decimated, with many parties taking what they want. At that point I'd like to defend my family. make my puddle of shells and meet God

I see in the most recent thread here that it's the grid going down.... and they recommend 6 months supply of preps...

The most worrisome prep item for me is water. Worst case scenario, I can go down to the lake and get water but that would be crappy.
Look into the Berkey filter systems. I would feel safe running stock tank water through them.

    Somewhere in Texas!
I try to be ready for the usual weather-related issues. When the big freeze hit, I found a few holes and plugged them. Now I am adding a bit more in case inflation does reach a level and there is an economic collapse similar to 1929. I cannot be ready for everything, but I try to cover as much as possible. For example, this year the rains have made for a terrible garden, while it is affordable, I am adding extra store-bought goods, since there was nothing extra to can this year. I have elderly parents to care for also, so I put extra aside for them as well. I will continue to put aside extra as long as possible.
