Reminds me of parking garages in Japan. Since they were cramped for horizontal space, they would have vertical carousels, think ferris wheel like, about 4 stories high. When you went to retrieve your car, the guy punched in the numbers from your ticket and the thing rolled around until your car appeared on the bottom level.
