Do any of our members program Midland XTR mobile 2-way radios??
(I was just given a 22 channel Midland Model 70-1342B, that's on 2M frequencies but need it REPROGRAMMED to local Bexar/Travis County repeaters.)
Is that a digital radio? From what i have heard those older radios have to have like a 386 computer to program. The new computers just run too fast. That and the license for the software may make it bit of a challenge.
About Midnight I found a tech/ham operator, who has the Midland programmer & the software for Windows 10, too. - He's about a hour north of Austin.
IF I could find someone around San Antonio, I wouldn't have to make the trip.
Fwiw, I was offered a large group of the 70-1342B radios (from a small police department) by a vendor & IF I buy them, I'll buy my own programmer. - It's NOT that expensive but not worth it for 1-2 radios.
The commercial/industrial quality radio that I'd really love to find, in good order, is a (VHF) GE RANGR. = 110 watts output & 16 "banks" of 16 memories, too.
IF I find one, I'll turn it back to about 60-75 watts out. - The I won't "open machines" from El Paso to Brownsville. Also, at that output a RANGR will run essentially forever.
Yes Chinese but made to order by an American who knows his stuff. I think they are as good or better than Motors at half the cost and open source. And the support is top drawer.
That can't be a real radio, it doesn't have the name in hugh letters on the face plate.. Is the head a remote mount? I love my 208H because the head unit is about 1" x 4' x 3/4".
