    Gunz are icky.
Was not the original reason for all those dams along the Guadalupe river below New Braunfels to generate electricity?
    Power generation ceased years ago.

Nowadays its about selling water. Water = Big $$$$
I'd bet it will not be rebuilt anytime soon as GBRA will just pull water from McQueeny and Placid.

    San Antonio!
I hope that you are right. GBRA told the Lake Wood people that their dam would be fixed in 6 months. They still haven't done anything to it 3 years later.

To be fair, flooding that threatens peoples' homes is more of a concern and priority over an issue where recreation is the greatest loss...

I thought they were primarily about flood control.

I thought they were primarily about flood control.

They were originally built for both power generation and flood control. Power generation ceased decades ago. Flood control still is part of it. Remember these dams were relatively small and were built in the 1920's.
Much later Canyon Lake was built to control floods in the Guadalupe basin so the further downstream dams became less critical.
Less critical = less $$ for maintenance = Dam break
The river is still flowing down into McQueeny and Placid so the water will be pumped from there for sale.
I'll bet you a new Hi-Point they do not rebuild the dam within 5yrs.
That is unless members of the board of directors of the GBRA own property on Dunlaps waterfront.

Seems like property owners around these lakes should have been more engaged. You just can't trust the government to take care of anything.

Kinda curious about the ownership of the land that used to be under the lake water.
With the river eventually returning to its original riverbed all the land that had been underwater of the lake, that now will be dry, belongs to who?

    I wonder the same thing.

Some attorney's will likely get rich if it's not clearly spelled out in Tx law.

A friend has his Buda (AKA Austin suburb) home for sale for 1.6 million.
His home on Lake Placid (AKA Guadalupe River) is nearly done.

    Upset is an understatement.
I'll ask him, if I dare.
