Many years ago, a fellow in my apartment would knock on adjacent apartments after dark, and say with a beer in hand, "hey, watch this."
We would all gather on the stoop to see what he was up to.
The fellow filled a glass Coke Bottle with black powder, and put a lit candle on top.
Then he grabbed his pellet rifle and shot the bottle: The resultant flash was quite spectacular. No explosion, just a huge "whoosh" and ball of fire.
It was quite amusing that the law never got called.
The fellow continued to entertain our apartment dwellers for many months.
Eventually, I moved away, and don't know how his schtick played out.
