Proud that Texas Senators stood against it. McCain, Graham and the others........well, did you expect anything else? My buddy in OK called Coburns office and the response was that he voted to take it to debate so his voice could be heard. Really?

I HOPE with all the glittery wishes of fluttering butterflies, sparkly candy and sweet kisses that they intend to squash this in the Senate. IMO they're giving an inch and they will be steamrolled when the Dems take their mile.

I called Cornyn ad Cruz this afternoon, left them a voicemail thanking them for their votes today.

    Here's from Graham's FB page:

I welcome a debate on the Second Amendment in the United States Senate. I want to proceed to this bill. I want to debate it. I am not afraid.

Some have asked why I opposed filibustering a procedural motion to move forward. Here’s my reasoning.

    • Many Senators have refused to even take a position on some of these issues for fear of angering one side or the other. There’s only one way to see where Senators actually stand – make them vote.

    • Filibustering right now means Senators get a free pass. Some politicians’ dream scenario is one where they don’t actually have to vote For or Against a proposal but can tell each side they were with them all along. Again, let’s make Senators vote.

    • Nothing the Democrats are proposing would have prevented the Sandy Hook massacre. We need Senators on record. Do you support these proposals?

    • The legislation can still be filibustered after today in the United States Senate. And even if gun control legislation passes the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate it is unlikely to pass the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

    • Finally, I have my own legislation, supported by the NRA, which I want to bring forward in the Senate. My legislation would make a real difference in keeping guns out of the wrong hands.

It’s designed to prevent individuals like Alice Boland, a mentally disturbed individual who once pled ‘Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity’ in federal court for threatening to kill the President of the United States from legally buying a firearm. Under current law, she was able to pass a background check, buy a pistol, and go to Ashley Hall School in Charleston where she tried to shoot several school officials. One bullet in her hands is one too many.

Again, I welcome a debate on gun control and you should too. The American people deserve to see where their elected representatives stand on the Second Amendment.

    Let’s vote.

And this is why I refuse to help the Republican Party. I will give to an individual, but not to the party because they lack any kind of reasonable direction anymore. Like Romney, most are just the "lite" version of the Democrats. (The Dems have essentially become communists; I find no saving virtues among any of them.)

If he hasn't figured out that refusing to debate it sends a pretty loud and clear message, he's hopelessly incompetent. Fortunately, though I don't think that's the case. It's more likely he's just a lying traitor.

Graham's trash response is his cover for what is likely a backroom deal. He knows there are too many Dems in the Senate and that makes this a dangerous bill. Of course, he can vote against it and say he opposed the deal, knowing that he voted "for" it with this vote.

Pure trash! Wonder what he's getting in return. Some kind of shrimp dinner with the Commie-in-chief.

Of course, that piece of crap from Arizona is not a conservative at all. I can't believe they keep sending that &*(^% back. I don't give a shit what he did for the country in Vietnam, when he damages it by his acts in the Senate.

+1. Cruz debated in national-level competition and he doesn't want to have a debate. I think there might be a reason.

IMO there are 2 trains of thought.

One being let it come to a full blown vote, so we (as republicans)can see who votes for it, and use it as fodder during the election season. Because even if it passes the senate, it will never pass the house.

The other being, lets do what's right, and not allow the bill to even come to a vote. If we can stop it here, we should.

I don't think it has to do with wanting to debate or not debate anything... The dems have their marching orders, and they don't break ranks... Hell a democrat could kill someone and theyd still circle the wagons, hell ted kennedy did kill a woman...

And if you don't know that as a republican, you're an idiot.

Two Democrats voted against bringing this bill to debate.

I really hope that last sentence isn't aimed at me personally.

Yup, two schools of thought on how to attack this vote. I can see both ways, but in politics and especially gun control, I don't think they should have let it go this far. The Senate is taking a big risk counting on the House to kill it I think any Ds will vote this in even if it kills re-election prospects for them, just for the feel good affirmation of pushing big legs through. And now that puts pushover Boehner under pressure. That man can't stand for anything for us.

I think this will backfire and we'll get hosed, as usual. I gladly hope to be wrong.

I've always considered McCain/Graham not working for conservatives, sad fact is many GOP folks have moved left when in fact we should be trying to move the left center. The Democrat party has aligned themselves with radicals, Muslim brotherhood, socialist and communist, that does not mean rank and file members but the leadership, once we see the GOP move across the center line it's over so we need the Ted Cruz, Rand Paul group to hold the line. The press is our biggest enemy they want gun control so they push bogus polls and continue to keep the issue alive via showing pictures of children to force Republican congressman to vote for more gun control.
