My nephew is a software engineer and a car guy.
Him and his company have clients including State Dept, DOJ and NASA.
    He’s a smart guy.

He bought a new Raptor and found out he hated the auto start stop feature so he designed this product.
I get nothing out of this, but I am proud of him for coming up with a good solution for such a stupid design that nobody likes.

If you have an F150 and hate that feature, maybe this is for you.

What the heck are ya'll talking about?

I have an old Tundra without too many high tech doo dads myself, so I'm technically backward about the new car/truck crap some nanny stater came up with...at least that's what I'm guessing you're speaking of....?

It's an emissions thing to help keep the serfs that live in cities from choking on their concentrated exhaust due to idling in traffic 4-6 hours a day.

The EPA gives carmakers CAFE credits for start stop systems.
They’ll soon be on the majority of vehicles offered for sale.

If you think it's bad on an F150, you should see it on a Volkswagon! My son's car was flooded in the last hurricane and I went with him trying out new cars. We tried a VW Atlas, which is underpowered to say the very least, and we were surprised at the first stop sign when the engine stopped. It's like someone said, "How could we make this more crappy than it already is?", and an engineer took that as a challenge.

Some setups override the stop start if the climate control is at Max.

Full hybrids and EV’s have electric AC compressors...conventional cars with stop start don’t, so they can blow hot air while you’re waiting at a red light.

My 2016 GM pickup has Active Fuel Management,
Under low loads it cuts out 4 cylinders
They auto switches back to 8

This is linked to severe engine damage at 140k miles
A company made a small plug in device that while plugged in, over rides that feature and keep the engine in V8 mode
If you un plug it, it goes right back to factory settings

I have one and I love it

Whenever the government compels car makers to do something stupid like this , someone will eventually come up with a fix

Source on the engine damage? I've done some research on that myself and haven't found anything credible to suggest otherwise. I might be wrong though.

Up until 2014, it seems AFM was relatively unreliable, and collapsed lifters are/were an issue with AFM. Reman motors generally got rid of the hardware.

Apparently, GM did some re-engineering that generally brought reliability to the system after 2014 model year.

But I still don’t trust it, and I run the Range AFM delete plug-in device on my 2015 5.3.

And there are still rebuild kits for the newer motors that get rid of the hardware entirely.

This is our government helping us. You people just need to accept that the world is a better place with these features.

Be happy you just have to fill it with gas. You could be blessed with the joys of buying DEF as well as fuel for a diesel.
