Cheek Abscess

This pt had his wisdom teeth out with another surgeon. Had trouble opening his mouth ever since. I think we know why...

Interesting - What are you using to treat the infection?

Plus, what's in his right nostril? Does he have a deviated septum? I see a trickle of what appears to be blood emanating from same.

Is the white (whatever it is?) something to increase his air flow?

Is this something you see very often?

Cause by?

I used cold steel to treat the infection (a scalpel, or, in this case a cautery) an antibiotics.

That's a temperature probe in the right nostril. Can't tell about the septum from this view.

Yeah, I see stuff like this all the time. A few times a week.

This was a postoperative infection. When the other doctor took the pt's wisdom teeth out bacteria got in the tissue, pt's immunse system couldn't overcome them, and an abscess formed.
