I'm thinking about going with it. Does anybody have any experience with Browning safes? I looked this one over yesterday. Comes with an SG electronic lock which is a selling point.

I know they're not as sturdy as a commercial TL rated safe but I'm looking for good enough and big enough that I'm not going to outgrow it any time soon.

I had an SG electronic lock on my Liberty safe
It started showing warning signs it was going to leave me locked out someday so I had a locksmith come and install a high quality dial lock
I feel much better with a dial lock
No batteries, no electrical components to go bad and leave you locked out

For that price you can get a much better RSC.

Tractor Supply has a Cannon safe, 75 minute fire protection, for only $899 right now. Unless you are really into rifles, a Browning safe will not satisfy you. Browning safes are designed for people with lots of long guns, and very few pistols.

I have a cannon, probably the same model linked. These safes are not that great. You get what you pay for. As mentioned by vmax, you can pay a smith to change to a dial. Something I will be doing.

Overall I’m ok with mine. Doesn’t give me a problem. The build quality is not really good. It’s gonna work just fine; just don’t expect a nice safe, dude. I out grew mine and I’m gonna be looking for a second soon.

That's pretty much why I'm not asking about the cheaper Cannons. I'm not sure if the Brownings are worth the money or not but for the price, that's quite a bit of safe.

The next step up seems to be significantly more expensive and I hate to spend a lot on a safe I'm going to outgrow quickly.

Before you buy Cannon look up the complaints. I bought a Stack-On with the electronic lock BUT it had a key backup. Built the same as Cannon but cheaper in price.

I did the same, glad I did because my electronic lock went out on me. it was replaced under warranty. I did call a locksmith and ask if it could be changed to an S&G he said no. BTW Stack-on and Cannon are the same company i think.

I will only buy dial locks preferably those like the Government uses. I believe when you see the number on a safe that is for unscoped rifles? I would read some reviews before I purchased anything.
