I should have put this in Survival. Because if the supply of Smokeless powder stops. I suspect a bunch of folks are going to be making and using black powder in all types of stuff.

    I know I would.

Well he proved that black powder will shoot in an AR platform but doesn't cycle the action. A mag fed bolt action would definitely be a better choice under those circumstances. I watched and enjoyed that TV series (Revolution). A battery powered red dot wouldn't be functional either. There was no electricity at all, not even battery power.

I thought I was going to love it but it was too frustrating.
    • Guns are outlawed on penalty of death yet no one uses a suppressor. Several people get caught with guns because the sound of shooting brought the bad guys to them.
    • The sword fights were laughable. I couldn't count the number of times I thought "One cut! Right there! Your opponent left themselves open long enough that even I could have stuck 'em with the pointy end! The fight should be over!"
When a TV program makes me yell at the screen, I give it up.

Or if you still want an AR pattern, there are the pumps from Troy.

Now only if someone can come up with a way to adapt the gas system to resist the power fouling of black powder. It can be done.

I'd like to see it performed with a piston system.

If some broke prick communist can come up with the design of the AK. Somebody in the states has to know how to make a gas blow back semi automatic rifle function on homemade or store bought black powder.

A larger gas port and gas tube would do it. The hardest thing I would think is keeping the port cleaned out. But that is doable as well. A cutout in the top rail and removable plugs on the front and top of the gas block would take care of that.
I would think a direct blow back would be much easier to do though.
