I'm in The Woodlands, I tried the website.
Even clicking 30' antenna, it states zero channels.

That's new to me. I have only done this for my house though. I'm in Lake Jackson and I'm close enough to Houston, I get most all channels. The Woodlands should show more than I can get.

Yeah, I was really surprised, I figured it would show several, even without a tower antenna.

I only did it just to see, I'm not dropping cable.

Satellite could be the best option, but be prepared to pay about $100 a month unless you can get one of their introductory deals. If you are going to want internet and TV, cable may be a better option if they will string a line to your house. It's still gonna cost you at least $100 a month tho.

Satellite internet sucks. I'm talking to you HughesNet.
Yes. I agree. Satellite IP is hard to live with. I will say it sucks a lot less when it is your only option. When ATT/Verizion hot spot won't work and cable doesn't go there satellite IP is a great way to go. It is satellite. It will go any place in North America where you have a view of the southern sky. Supply and demand sets the price. You can ask a little more when you have the only game in (or way out of ) town.

    Somewhere in Texas!
    ATT Mi-Fi

Works well for streaming services, Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime and YouTube. Does not work well with my satellite service provider. Also allows you to use it as a home phone via cellular, just connect via standard phone cable to the built in jack. I only use about 50Gbs per month, but I have the 150Gb plan. No complaints.

The only game I have tried is Hearth Stone , so no info there.

    Out here by the lake!
Get the app "TV Towers" for your phone and it will show where all the towers are, in Houston they are all just south of Missouri City. That's a long haul for digital and then into the woods of Woodland. Then go to https://www.scadacore.com/tools/rf-path/rf-line-of-sight/ and pinpoint your exact location and the towers location and you can see what is in the way.
I remember when one of those towers fell. IIRC they're in the process of erecting it.

our cell phones are thru AT&T. we live under a metal roof in a brick house in the boonies. took 2 hours plus yesterday to send a text containing a screenshot of a chart. we even have a booster in the house connected to a small antenna on the roof. closest tower is about 12 miles away. over the years, EVERY TIME we call em complaining, we get the exact same story. the tower is malfunctioning, they are working on it, a new one is being erected. if it wasn't for the landline we'd be screwed.

We gave up our landline. AT&T would not keep the line in working order. After three call outs in a couple of months, we just cancelled. Not going to pay for something that does not work.

Technicians said that the company would only allow them to patch, whereas major work was needed for the lines to be reliable.

Years back, cut off the landline after AT&T allowed a 3rd party business to put charges my AT&T home phone bill for $8/mo (IOW, AT&T put themselves in the middle of the cash flow) for something which I neither authorized nor received.

Then said 3rd party turned it over to a bill collector when I refused to pay. WTF?!

I filed a small claims in Harris County to stop both of them. When I filed, they crawfish'ed immediately.

Didn't participate in the resulting class action ... wasn't nuclear enough, and just fed the lawyers.

    AT&T still sucks ...

    . . .

    AT&T still sucks ...

Yes they do. I was a loyal AT&T customer for over 25 years including about 10 of them with cell phones, land lines and a DSL line.

When we moved to a new house with no cable or DSL service, we had to rely solely on cellular data and AT&T's cellular data service in this area is poor. So we needed to switch to T-Mobile, which has the best cellular data here.

So, I needed to get our cell phones unlocked so I could sign up with T-Mobile, and AT&T roadblocked me every way they could. Something that should have taken a day took over 3 weeks.

I will celebrate the day that AT&T goes bankrupt. May they rot.

My wife worked at DirecTV before, and then after, the AT&T takeover.

They may be a bad company to have as provider, but they’re worse as an employer.

They laid off most DirecTV employees over a short-ish period of time.

AT&T puts shareholder profits above customer service. That’s not just me saying it, it’s part of the culture.

Here’s a good example of their foolishness. My wife is an IT project manager / director, she spent almost two years upgrading DirecTV’s network security.

AT&T bought them, systems not compatible, so she spent the next year unwinding her previous two years of work, reverted to the old system with known security issues, then laid-off her entire department.

That would be truly sad. They are a TERRIBLE provider, that just got much worse after the AT&T takeover.
We cancelled them when we moved from our last house. They had a "process" for returning the receivers and remotes. Okay. We sent them back using THEIR process. And then received a bill for $250, saying they were not retunred. Then, they tried to bill us for another month of service. I called them and, after threatening to report them to our state attorney general, they dropped all the fees and charges. They probably make a fair profit from those who won't dispute with them.

On the upside, they have continual rate increases and a pretty decent product.

It’s sad because DirecTV devotes the most bandwidth to picture quality compared to cable, and even FiOS.

But the constant bill escalation got old.

At the end of the day, AT&T bought DirecTV for their wireless spectrum, and couldn’t give a shit about satellite customers.

Until you are here for weeks at a time...
Have you tired reading? In truly remote areas, DVDs become their own type of currency so you could stock up on those. Nothing in East Texas is really that remote, tho...

    I've got a 30 ft traditional antenna
Is it both VHF and UHF? You're probably only ever going to get 60 or 70 mile range even with a good antenna. I doubt they are worth watching.

TV transmissions travel in straight lines only, so placement of your antenna depends upon getting in line with the flow of data.

I am in a rural area 38 miles east of Houston and have a $100 Yagi style antenna on the roof of my house. It brings in over 60 solid stations.

    I've never had cable TV.
