    The irony was not lost on either my Darla or upon me. = It's called a BITTER chuckle, as I lost my @ss on what the insurance company paid me.
    (I received about 40% of my out of pocket, PLUS most of my grandfather's tools gone.)

    Neither the local PD or the SD spent ANY time or effort trying to recover it, as both said that they were presuming that the truck was either cut up for parts or more likely smuggled into Mexico & then sold abroad.
    (Since 2017 there has been more than 100 diesel PUs stolen in this area & only 9 were ever found & those few were stripped of all the salable items, according to the "detective".)

    The detective said to me on the phone, "Kiss it goodbye as it won't be recovered."

    Brother's Chevy pickup was stolen at the Dallas Boat Show back in 1986 and I had to pick him up. Police told him that was one of their favorite venues - guys with money looking at boats usually had nice pickups. Also said it was probably on it's way to Mexico and would never been seen again.

    My PU was a 1993 F-250HD with a NORTHSTAR engine by International Harvester. = Those (old-school engined) PUs, I later discovered, are TOP candidates to theft/export, as they will run on most any sort of oil (other than gasoline), including plain old used motor oil/AT fluid/waste cooking grease & LOTS of other things.

    Took my truck to Discount and had all the tires rebalanced. The out of state shop that installed the nee rear tires didn't instill much confidence and it rode pretty rough.

    Much better now but still stops rough. New rotors are inbound. The originals warped and turning them didn't last long.

    Will get pics of the new rotors before install. Fancy ones that hopefully last a long time.

    Purdy...hopefully you got ceramic pads too.
    Actually I read not to since the truck spends most of it's life towing. Using ceramic pads transfers more heat to the brake parts and can cause premature warping and caliper failure.

    These have a lifetime warranty but I prefer not to have to replace them again.

    Ceramics definitely get the nod for regular vehicles as they are more efficient and cleaner but I went with semi-metalic.

    I had the original rotors turned as they were warped bad and went with ceramic pads. Maybe a month later they were warped worse than before and had new stress cracks. I think I can even feel them while not using the brakes.

    I went ahead and ordered all four corners but probably could have gotten away with just new fronts. Figured I may as well get them all since I was doing it anyways.

    Do you bed your pads?

    It helps promote an even transfer layer of pad material (and can prevent the from warping)

    The new parts came with a break in procedure that I plan on following.

    I have never heard of bedding the pads but it makes sense in a way. Not sure if it would apply to dual piston calipers though.

    Now I have to look it up. I assume the break in procedure is going after the same result.

    Yup, likely the same thing.

    It gets an even transfer layer of pad material onto the rotors.

    An uneven layer of transfer material (also called uneven wear) is generally the cause of warping and/or measured runout...not actual distortion of the rotor itself.
