Pay good money for that extra service, used to be worth it but seriously if they would have simply visited a site they would have known there was an issue, they rely on alarms. And those failed so I am waiting to hear why.

I agree, few things simpler/cheaper/brainless than a small bit of code reliably pinging a remote gateway.

Sign of the times ... farkin' ignorance is rampant, even among the script kiddies.

Any decent monitoring platform offers a good list of options to check whether not only the server is up and responding, but that key applications are responding. When I hosted all the big car forums, I pointed it at the URL to list who is logged in. Get a 200, you're ok. Anything else flagged as an alert.

I think it was like I said, I've been wrong before though.
    I don't know why A35 would be said A Zed 5, maybe it's a Russian thing.

I reckon that has to be correct.

I was going off the HBO TV show, though.
There it was the A35 button, pronounced A Zed 5.
I guess they're using poetic license?

sounds like "z" in zodiac. This letter might look like the number three (3) but it only conveys a sound and has nothing to do with digits.

I wish more folks secured their systems this way. Pen tests would take a hell of a lot less time to leave a calling card.
