My google foo is no good... Are there regularly scheduled gun shows?

More importantly, are there ones that are better?

    @tonelar:
IIRC, guns shows are fairly rare in ELP, mainly once a year...but when they DO happen, I believer the El Maida Shrine Temple (6331 Alabama) hosts them, and HAVE been for many decades now.
Looks like 3 are coming: One now and 2 more later:

As for which ones are "better than others" when you hardly have any shows to begin with, when you get some maybe they ALL are good? ;-)

Don't know, but don't think being a Border town has much to do with it -- but the mostly Hispanic population MAY, given they as a rule vote heavily Democrat wherever they live. For one example, locals here were all for "Beto" O'Rourke (vs. Ted Cruz). But that's not saying much, as it seems to me most so-called "gun-owners" are liberals (regardless of which state/city is in question), so probably lots of people here have guns @ home.
However, when I am out in the desert here (in the Red Sands area), there usually are people shooting...but as in most places, they're a tiny minority.
As for people who have a LTC permit -- which would help figure out how much of a "shooting community" we have -- it'd be nice to know the percentage of carriers (people who got their permit) of everyone who would be eligible to carry if they wanted to. I'm guessing (at best) a typical 3% of the ELP population gets a permit -- maybe.
So no...don't think there's much of a "shooting community" here in ELP at all...

I guess I am one of those 3%'ers.... Lol.
Personally I try to shoot every weekend if possible. Just picked up a VR60 last week so you know were I was on Saturday. Broke that SG in within no time. My "spot" is at the end of Pellicano out in far east El Paso. Typically I bump into a few shooters out there from time to time. I have about another 5 years or so out there until urban sprawl pushes me out.

If not shooting rifle or pistol I am usually at the El Paso Skeet and Trap Club on Alameda starting at 10 a.m. sharpening my trap scores.. LOL! I agree with BillRedding to some extent, but there is a healthy group of shooters here; they just keep to themselves.

The gun show quality here in EPT has dropped considerably since 2008. It is unlikely you will find good deals on "new" powder and primers anymore, and many of the vendors are the same grumpy guys that are asking for way too much for their "bubba'ed" items. I am tired of seeing the same ol' overpriced stuff that has small signs "do not handle"... I haven't gone to the last 3 shows that have come in, and I hear that they may even cancel some of the upcoming ones planned. The majority don't buy coins, scentsy, books from the 70's, or jewelry; yet they keep showing up.. If I need AR parts or Military Surplus I will go to the show to only speak with John Clark or Jim.

Yes, there are. Daily, with live firing even. Just across the bridge to the south...

Juarez is not nearly as bad as it used to be back in 2010.
It was like 10 to 15 people killed (violently) per day back then.

Without splitting too many hairs, now it is down to around 4 per day...(sarcasm)

I was surprised about the.lack of a healthy gun community here as well.

Cant figure it out. I dont think people here like to get it and shoot.

I try to shoot every week my self.

Guns shows seem to be over priced.
