Agreed. Like seeing someone get full use out of their well deserved military benefit. Congratulations!

Thanks folks, it's been brutal. I haven't been around here as much because of it and family stuff. Now I can come home and do nothing instead of lock myself in my office. I thought about getting a PhD in IT but it really isn't worth it. The most I'd use it for is to teach graduates at a university. As it is, I teach soldiers on Fort Hood. My way of continuing service despite being released on a combat injury in Iraq back in 2006 and 2009.

Something that has stuck in the back of my head over the years is a desire to get a degree. First it was a BS, then later when it was clear a BS is really high school 2.0 I wanted a Masters. Never got either, but I'm doing ok for myself I guess. Had to work a lot harder to get into the position I'm in though, that piece of paper has unfortunately been a stumbling block in a few interviews. If it weren't for the cost, I'd work on it in my spare (lol) time just to have it.

Yeah, I got my Masters in Cybersecurity Management. I don't plan on being an engineer and senior technical instructor for the rest of my life. I'm trying to get into upper management and that piece of paper will at least check the block for me. I've been in IT all my adult life and while I hate IT, I am good at what I do.

You are to be commended for sticking with it. I'm about 5 hours shy of my Master Degree. At the time, I was working full time and going through a painful break up with a longterm girlfriend. I made the decision drop out and moving to another stated. The change was needed, but I've always regretted my decision. It would've have helped my career since I took a completely different career path. But the unfinished aspect has always bothered me.

It took a lot of reaching down deep and sucking it up to get it done. I wanted to quit so many times. Hell, even this last course, I wanted to do less and less even though I was almost done. Doesn't make much sense but oh well, it is completed.

I completely understand. I'm currently going through the same thing. It's super tough, but I'm glad you stuck it out. What an accomplishment!

What speaks volumes to a prospective employer is exactly the fortitude to finish what you started exhibited above.

    Again, good job!

Congrats. The Master’s is all about critical thinking, developing a working position/hypothesis and defending it.

Do not let the skills you learned doing those things rust away. The technical matter is point-in-time. The process is timeless.

Man it feels good to be done. I had gotten by Bachelor's many years ago and decided to use what was left of my GI Bill and get my Masters. To anyone in IT or otherwise, I highly recommend getting it done. It kept my discipline strong from my military days and carved into me in a good way. I'm just glad that 1.5 years of grueling work is done.

    Nice.....
