I bought an attachment that fits over the mouth of the jars with the lids in place. They come in handy storing things we rarely use but having available for guests. They could come in handy for longer term storage.

Think I would feel better with some kinda dessicant in the jar too. Half a paper towel in the bottom should catch any moisture that might show up. Now maybe girl scouts cookies are dryer than a bone. I would sure use it for jerky and such things. Heard on the radio the other day a person can buy those cookies at Family Dollar much cheaper than those money grubber girl scouts charge...lol.

The girl scouts get such a small amount from each box we asked to give them a donation directly and skip the cookies for the last two years.

So far I haven't noticed a need for anything else in the jars but if stored for a longer time it might be a good idea.

Well if it hasnt been a problemo in two years doubt it would all of a sudden be an issue. Why dont you test a few jars with a paper towel in the bottom and skip the 02 absorbers just as a scientific experiment. If that works just as good it would prob be a bit cheaper. lol.

Been using a vacuum sealer for years.

Found a deer shoulder from 2014 in the bottom of my freezer last year.

Vacuum bag was intact and the shoulder was just fine. Zero freezer burn and tasted great.

Is it enough to vacuum seal your amo and keep itndark?
And can you keep it in the original box?
I think so. Although I do store the sealed boxes in .50 cal cans, probably not necessary. Store ammo where it is not subject to extreme temperatures and humidity and it will last for years and years, even if not vacuum sealed.

Is it enough to vacuum seal your amo and keep itndark?

There really isn't any need to seal and pull a vacuum on ammo, unless you are storing in under some sort of wet conditions.

There has been mucho mil-surp ammo that was stored in cool dry locations for decades that still works just like it did when manufactured.
