I still love mini bikes. I also had one at a young age. Now I buy and fix them up whenever I run across a cheap one. Just fixed these up last summer. About time to find some more. View attachment 160702

    Yep.
My first was a Sears tube frame like those.
    Then I got a Honda trail 50, then a Yamaha 60.

It was all about dirt track racing around my house. Guy named Eldon Dotson was a local hero. I’ve seen him win many races. Great memories. Eldon is in the #72 car

    Gunz are icky.
When I was a school kid my Grandfather would randomly take me from school and spend the day with me doing anything I wanted.
He didn’t do this often. Maybe one or two days per year.
    Always unscheduled.
He would wait until I had arrived at school then show up and tell the front office I had to come with him.
We went fishing. To a carnival. Exploring to places I had never been. He even took me to a Godzilla movie once!
At the end of the day he would drop me off at home.
He swore me to secrecy that I never tell anyone else what we had done with the threat that it would never happen again if I told. I didn’t. You could of burned me with fire and I would not have ratted him out.
If Mom ever knew she never said.
    Yes I miss you Pawpaw.

Oh. That meant cutting calves. Harvesting wheat.
    Hoeing cotton.
School was a vacation for me.
This except I had a hammer in my hand.

Friends would brag about their weekend/ Summer/ Spring Break activities. I just smiled with a pocket full of cash.

Pocket full for a kid anyways.

Fishing with my uncle. He chain smoked Kool's and would come by the house in his Pontiac Tempest towing his Glastron tri-hull before the sun came up. Good times. Little league baseball.

Summers in general when I could stay up to watch the late movie on TV. Running around the backyard, going swimming in the local pool, and just doing nothing.

Roaming the area on my bike,
hanging out with my old sheepdog Sugar,
walking our fenceline looking for the two covey of quail that roamed our place,
swimming in the river near my house,
playing Little League baseball. It was the only thing I was ever really good at,
chilling with my buddies and the stupid stuff that always ensued,
hanging out with my grandpa who was the strongest human I knew for the first three decades of my life. I really miss that old man.

Dirt bikes and hunting in the woods behind the house. Yes, Pink Floyd on the quadraphonic stereo with a color organ flashing lights and a slight buzz was good too. Youth defined as under 18.

Not caring what time it was. Time meant nothing... either the sun was out or it wasn't.

Countless hours spent roaming the country side with my dog 'Jackie Blue'.

Sunday's throwing the football in the street with my Dad and Brother after getting wound up from the ball games.

My Mom would go to church on Sunday evenings... my Dad never wen't. I'd sometimes stay home with him and we'd take the back roads to the beer store. It'd be a summer evening and we'd have all the windows down. Dad would always get a 6'er of High Life tall boys.

I'll never forget the first time I found my brothers Hustler magazine. That was a defining moment in my life. Girls were incredible to me after that. Lol

We moved across the street from a country club when I was 15. Spent 15-18 pretty much playing golf every chance I had.
