This puts the factory bluing on my Ruger to shame. Seriously, it's more like something you would see on a Wilson Combat pistol. It's flawless and has a dull blue shine just like I wanted. He even did all of my small parts like the grip screws.
    View attachment 159979

Even the interior of the pistol looks new.

It's covered in oil and I'm going to leave it that way until the weekend when I start the assembly. By the way, total cost of re-blue $108.00. Now I can buy more bullets! Totally recommend McClelland Gun Shop of Dallas, two thumbs way up!

    Dang !!!!

I’ll need to remember them for future reference!!

Keep in mind that a lot of the cost associated with a re-blue is due to the stripping of the gun. My pistol was already stripped and all of the parts taken down to bare metal. If you take a gun to them and have them strip it and remove the old finish the cost will be higher. Removing the old finish along with the scratches and other blemishes is labor intensive.

I'm having these grips made by Altamont, should be completed in a few weeks. Rosewood

Altamont grips are top notch. I have three sets (629, sp101, and Mark III), and they all look fantastic and gave the gun a whole new personality. That set is going to look fantastic on your gun.

They make some nice stuff for sure, I used one of their mainspring housings on my Delta build. After looking through their wares I have the itch to build another Colt.

Here’s my girl, I just got all the pieces back from Cerakote yesterday then reassembled. Your blueing looks fantastic!! Mine is a 1979 model. Before Cerakote at my local Smith I ground off the 2 circles, ground off the original serial #'s, shortened the hammer to reduce the chances of hammer bite, & reduced the length of the side lock on the right hand side. I ordered these grips about a month ago before following your post! They were made to order, I received them last week.

Awesome!!! She came out perfect, well done sir! I might reduce the length of my slide lock too, it does stick out a little too far. I hope it doesn't take a month for my grips to be made, lol.

TY! I'm really digging your blueing job! Yeah shortening that some what intrusive slide lock was a must! My pistol was rusted up pretty good( lots of pitting), I got the $150 good condition option. I dremeled and sanded ALOT lol. My firing pin retention pin under the sight was basically rust welded in place. I had to use a torch and a ball peen hammer (2 punches later) to remove it!!

You did a great job, it just takes a little (or a lot) of elbow grease to get them cleaned up. I didn't have any rust on mine, but it was no beauty queen either, lol. The only nice thing on my pistol was the barrel, I have a feeling it was replaced at some point.

I decided not to wait until the Altamont grips came in, I've nearly got it done. Here's a spy shot. I just need to repaint the red dot for the safety and install the trigger. I'm ready to take it to the range!

It would be an easy part to make for someone with the tooling. You'd have to trim the grip panel on the right side though.

    Red Army,

I keep HOPING that somebody WILL start making ambi-safeties. = I know LOTS of people here in The Alamo City who would buy them IF they were available.

As of today this project is done! It was a fun build, I'm glad it's finished though, it was a tough one! Now to take it to the range and put it through it's paces. I still have a set of Altamont grips being made so I'll update the pics when they come in.

    Here she is!

The action on this pistol is so smooth now, it's a far cry from what I started with. I replaced every spring on the gun so a little break in will be required. It's already passed the pencil test and I've loaded and ejected some snap caps so it should do fine.
