    AustinN4,

When I was in HS "back in the Dark Ages" , i.e., the early 1960s, we took our rifles & shotguns to school, as nearly all "country kids" like me hunted & fished before & after school hours.
(We just didn't shoot each other with those firearms!!!)

To prevent thefts of firearms out of vehicles, our school superintendent required firearms to be secured in the school office until the end of the school day. = Our principle's office looked like a LARGE LGS by 8am each morning.

    yours, satx

That was common in Pflugerville into the early 1990s.

A 17-year old, in a high school auditorium, doing a timed test of something that all kids in the old Soviet Union used to have to do to complete high school. This was shot after the break-up of the USSR. I have been led to believe that the requirement that everyone be able to field-strip an AK has been removed from the curriculum but I don't know anything for certain.

I sure wish American schools were generally comfortable with this sort of education, even if it were just a short term project that all students experience once.
