    Still here.

CCC's long ranges are a really nice amenity to have near by. I've had a membership before, but don't regularly shoot long range enough to justify the annual cost. I don't believe it's terribly difficult to qualify to shoot past 500. If you can't pass their qualification, you probably don't need to be shooting past that anyway to be honest.

I'm not worried about their qual. I've shot 500 yds several times over the years with a M16A2 and iron sights and a M16A4 and ACOG. I just thought it was interesting you had to show proficiency before getting to stretch your legs.

It's a safety thing, I believe. Don't want random shooters putting rounds into the neighbor's farmland all willy nilly.

Iron sights would be pretty impressive for their verification. The qualification is something like 6 hits on a 10" gong in 10 rounds at 500, I think. I don't remember the specifics that well because I wasn't really looking to go beyond 500 for my time (3 months) as a member.

They would be impressive with those requirements. I'm sure some could but for our training it was hit the black of a torso shaped target, nothing that precise.

They may answer the phone today even though they’re closed. They are often their on Monday’s doing administrative things. I’d call first.

I agree with Shipwreck. I was at Gunsmoke yesterday (1/26/19) shooting rifles and the range fee per person was $18-19/hour. That adds up quickly.

What I REALLY like about Champion’s pistol range in College Station is you pay for a lane (not hourly or permshooter) and can shoot as long as you like. Ive heard that during busy times they may ask you to let others shoot and then you come back later. It’s never happened to me though.

    Since we're speaking out.... (Champion)

When I go to class in BCS it gets out at 4. Rellis Campus about 10 miles out of town. By day 2, (I make sure that) the kid runnin the lanes knows who I am and that Im a firefighter and pushin the clock from class. The rest of the week he will let me show up at 430 (they usually shoo you away after that)and shoot till he is ready to go (at 5 ish) and in return I try to be politely quick on my exit.

For me, thats top notch customer service.

(dont even ask what he charges me...:green: )

Marksman Outdoor is a flat fee for all day. I shot yesterday for ~2.5 hours and bought 2 IPSC targets and my total was $18. They are talking about going to a membership model, but that won't happen for a bit, I don't think.

CCC down in Millican is a flat fee for all day. I can't remember if it's $25 or $30, but it gets you access to the training bay and pistol bays. The general public doesn't have ready access to the long range areas.

Didn’t realize that range was active these days.

I knew Aggies liked to grab each other's balls, but I've only seen it while they were fully clothed.

This naked breakfast thing opens up new possibilities fir you guys.

Marksman. That place has had an interesting history.

For sure. I've lived here for 5 years and the place has always seemed to have some sort of drama going on.

It's pretty inexpensive though and they don't have a bunch of silly rules (I grew up going to Carter's Country in Spring...:beat:), so I find myself going there from time to time.

Likewise, just over 5 years. Stopped by before Gun Corps took it over and they were closed for something. Then Gun Corps had some rain issues too one time, then it was closed due to GC losing the lease. I’ve only once ever shot there for all the times I’ve stopped by. Used to live north of Bryan and it made sense. Now I’m other side of Brazos not far from Gunsmoke but haven’t shot there yet. Other commitments and their prices have kept me away. I’ll make it there one weekend. Really want a CCC membership but it’s kinda out of the way considering the limited amount of time I have.
