So in other words, I have no proof that the laws I want to pass will make anyone safer, but it will make me feel better.

Why not just pass a law banning criminals from having guns? Makes just about as much sense as the garbage legislation we are seeing across this country.

The BRASS admin geek types want the gun control. 99% of street cops I know support the 2nd.

My Buddy Steve has hung out with cops for years so we got talking about LEO attitudes regarding these gun controls. I wondered if they'll participate in house-to-house searches or other activities in support of Obama's dream....disarmament. Steve says the laughter is extreme whenever the subject comes up. Typical comments include "F 'em", "NFW" and "Hell, NO!" The statement that sticks with me most is "That shxt isn't going to happen in Texas!"

Perhaps that will provide some comfort to our tinfoil hat crew.

i read this article early this morning. they say in the articel that SGT. Vann was shot with an AR15 with a drum mag. if im nto mistaken it was nto an AR15 with a drum mag it was something like an MP5 clone with a drum mag.

i really hate reading the MYSA.com app sometime when i do my morning business. its nothing but anti gun rhetoric constantly.

The Express News is run by progressives and pushes a progressive line.

Proof? Go pick up a copy of the San Francisco Chronicle. Same paper. Same owners.

It's like when loved ones die of a desease. Suddenly parents, sons, spouses, daughters, etc., want to raise money to help find a cure. Suddenly, we as humans, give a damn about ridding the world of something only after it took our beloved's life. It never really matters how rare it is. I have a blood clotting disorder. So rare that I am the only one in El Paso with it and studies were done on me while I was in the hospital, to learn more about it. If I died of it tomorrow, my loved ones would wish it didn't exist and, knowing them, they wouldn't rally to rid the world of it, but if they were like that, they would focus on MY blood disorder and ignore the more common causes of death that kill many many more. Most people who lose someone to something, don't care about the fact that there are other things that are taking more live's, just because those things weren't the cause of THEIR family member or friend's death. So, it is no surprise that she wants these to be banned. If her husband was the only one in history to be killed by a rifle, she would want all rifles destroyed. So in a sense I don't blame her. Losing someone you love kind of clouds any reasoning, taking most people's attention away from the REAL problem, and keeping it on the direct cause. Rather it is a symptom of something els, or just the direct cause. There is no common sense involved. That's why there is no talking sense into a lot of these people who are using the reason of loss to side with the gun control lobby. Anybody els who has no reason or excuse is just, in my opinion, probably mentally ill in their own power hungry way. Of coarse there are those that can take a loss and identify the REAL cause. I like to think that most gun owners are those types of people. We don't fear or hate guns because we can identify that there is a real problem behind people getting killed with them. We know it's people, not guns and in turn, we arm ourselves with guns to defend against people with bad intentions. We are the type of people that wouldn't try and raise money for a very rare illness to be cured, when we know that it makes more sense to raise money to help find a cure for something that is killing lots of people and is close to finding one. This is basically my take on this whole "banning" craze. Some people I don't blame and just wish they could see the real issue, other I think are the scum of the earth and power hungry.

Paragraphs, man... Use them, -please-. Giant blocks of text like that ain't fun to read.

On-topic, don't most PDs train their officers in how to use long guns (shotguns and rifles), and issue one or the other (sometimes both) regardless of the officer's patrol assignment? This officer may not carry one all the time, but I'm willing to bet there's one in the trunk of her cruiser, which IMHO invalidates her statement/argument.

Then don't read it. That is on topic. You alway swoop in with some condescending response to peoples posts. You are a perfect example as to why you must be 21 and over to own and conceal carry a pistol. You act so immature on this forum, I can't immagine how undisciplined you are with your firearms. This site should have the same age requirements, so young, egotistical, cocky kids like you have to mature a bit before becoming a member. Well, at least they have that ignore list. Thanks for the reminder, Alexrex.

Mind.....Gotta go with Doc on this one. That text is hard as Hell to read. I have cataracts forming and the brightness of the screen makes it look dazzling. When I look into a light, it makes a halo around everything. It's tough as Heck to follow text.

You have good ideas and I'd like to ponder them if you'd give me a chance. I use blocks of text. Break the text by hitting the enter twice and it splits into blocks. It's much easier to read.

Perhaps a more courteous and respectful plea may be appropriate, right Doc?......snicker.

    Thanks!

Conservatives say "I enjoy guns but you don't have to if you don't want to."

Liberals say "I don't like guns and I'm going to work to see to it that you can't like them either!"

Implying that conduct on the internet directly correlates to how someone acts in person and/or with a potentially lethal tool in their possession...

And yet I'm the immature one here? All I did was ask if you could split that massive block into smaller, easier-to-read chunks, because let's face it, no one likes having to read huge walls/blocks of text, no matter how good or bad their eyes are. Your response was (IMHO, anyway) completely over-reactionary. I really don't see how I could've phrased the question any nicer while still getting the point across.

Anyway. Petty whining and bitching aside, I think we can all agree that officer Vann's stance is influenced by little more than emotion, and as such needs to be considered as a moot point. The fact that she herself admitted that banning "assault rifles" and "high capacity magazines" (like the ones she was likely issued for her Glock 23) won't really do much makes me question her logic, maybe even her sanity.

Also, Roger. Couldn't agree more with that last post of yours. The "I don't like this, so I'm gonna make it illegal" mentality is arguably the most juvenile, immature logic a politician/lawmaker can use. I don't like people that blast rap or heavy metal, but I sure as hell won't ask for it to be made illegal.

It's funny that the liberals, who back in the sixties were all about doing your own thing and enjoying absolute freedom without society's rules getting in the way, are now the ones with the "I don't like that. We should ban it" attitude. Ironic, even.

I can understand the text issue and I acknowledge how messy it is. It's been a long night and I was in a bit of a hurry to get that out. As far as my response to doc. It's usually something I'd blow off but damn near every post from this kid has irritated, not only me, but others. I apreciate it though and I'll have a little more concideration when the texts start stacking up. Thanks.
