I office out of the house and use a secured VoIP phone backhauled through an PtP LOS microwave link to a MW receiver on a nearby tower. The traansceiver of the tower routes my calls through a Hughes comsat to a sat receiver downlink in Herndon.

I avoid cell phones like the plage unless neccessary, they're nothing more than a leash and a significan health risk if youre on the phone all te time.

About a year ago we were driving down the road and my wife says, "I want a cup of coffee, you want to stop somewhere?"

To which Siri, unprovoked, says, "there is a Stargbucks four miles from you, would you like directions?"

We looked at each other and both turned our phones off. It was at that moment that I realized our phones are listening to everything we say, even if we are not talking on them. Since then I make it a point to turn my phone off if I am not using it at the moment. Or sometimes place it inside my desk.

Sounds simple. I think I'll try that.

I swam in a lake in Michigan that had peet moss about 4-5 feet under water. It was one of the creepiest feelings ever.

I was in a giant waterbed that was 6 or so inches below the frame around the perimeter of the bed. Filled with jello and petite tight bodied thai chicks, it was one of the most intense feelings I've ever experienced, though "creey" isnt exactly how I would describe it.

    Apparently not just cell phones.

I spoke with an older guy I know yesterday. Someone hacked his home computer. Got his banking info and transferred $4k from his savings into his checking. Then called his cell and told him there was a problem and wanted him to transfer $3500 to a "new" account.

Being the paranoid old fart that he is, he went to the bank. They confirmed it was a hack. They opened new accounts for him, helped him get a couple new credit cards. Had to report the account change to his retirement income sources.

Forgot to ask what he did with his computer. Knowing him it's in pieces.

Dude is the sharpest 90 year old I've ever met. He has patents on stuff he developed for the military.
