After last week, I decided to push it out to 75 yds.

    3af7720933f2dc140a1ebb70def9074b.jpg

    Lessons learned:

    * Thick SFP crosshairs still cover up the aiming point. Can’t wait for my Vortex to come off backorder.

    * First time calculating MOA adjustments to dial in the correction. The calculated turns resulted in a relatively similar impact to aim point relationship. Confidence building, lots more practice needed here.

    * Minor technique issues at 50 yards are amplified at 75.

    * Trigger action has smoothed our considerable with usage. There’s about 500 rounds down the barrel, so it’s probably as good as it will get.

    * Pull is heavy enough at 75 that I’m going to have to do something about it.

Though it’s not an impressive grouping, I’m content with the lessons I’m learning, as the goal is less about how small can I go at 50 and more about how reliably can I put a hole in a desired point from 50 to 300 yds or longer.

Good start to the journey, though.

I'm on the fence between a Tikka T1x and a CZ 455. Anyone shot the tikka?

I have not. I’m. I’m not convinced it’s worth the extra coin, but your wants/needs/desires may lead to a different conclusion.

However, there’s a lot of hi-quality 22 you can buy for the difference.

My son has a CZ 452 Ultra Lux. Through a scope on that thing, set a target up at 50 yards with some smudges of jelly one it and wait for the flys to come in. Good times!

So, 5 weeks after I got my hands on this nice piece of glass

I found some time to put it on the CZ. I would’ve done it sooner, but I had to take care of some of this

    A little of that

And a whole lot of the other

Once I got that out of the way

I was able get the interim optic off

    Less beaches, more shooting!

With the Vortex 6-24x50 FFP mounted, today was a good day to zero it and just get comfy behind that big ol’ piece of glass.

Got it on paper at 25, then kicked it out to 100yds (upper right) using MRAD dial in.

Next, it was time to work from 100

Overall, not a bad day considering I haven’t shot this rifle since April.

About 1” groups at all distances. I need to spend some time getting used to the setup and regaining the feel of the trigger pull. I’ll give it a month or so, then will probably move off the stock trigger spring for something in the 3lb range.

All in all a good day.

    Next project:
Mating a Volquartsen straight-pull Summit action I just got to an older PWS T-3 fiberglass tension barrel.

    Torquing just completed.
Stock is binding a bit in places I don't like.

    Hoping for great accuracy things.
Range report to follow.....in about 10 days.

For plinking I have a nice Aimpoint red-dot or maybe even my little ACOG 2x20 that needs a home.
For sublime accuracy I will mount my ancient 12x Luepold-fixed as a starter.

Will it be a fun plinker or a precision bench babe?

Thread necromancy ... how about an update on the CZ?

Boringly accurate and precise, even after swapping the Vortex glass over to the 6.5CM and putting the Bushnell rimfire pro back on it.

I’ve got the .17HMR barrel and have been considering whether to mount it or not and come back to the same dilemma, which is whether I like the precision game enough to keep at it.

Took her out to the range tonight with a box of CCI minimags, which are good, but generally not the best. Did some warming up and put this 5-shot string together. The flyer is all me, I was getting excited watching the group form through the scope.
