    You guys.......

Accept "Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"

    Seven profound words.
Seven words that are an apogee of human compassion.

My destitute great great grandfather arrived from Germany, seafaring to Indianola TX and settled in Anhault (Google it) in 1843 speaking not a word of English.

Appreciate out national founding principle, lest your ancestors had been turned away.

    You guys are myopic.

100 years ago, in 1919, the US accepted about 1,220,000 foreign immigrants.

It is our national foundation. It is our fundamental principal for being.
Acceptance of immigrants are why you and I are here benefiting by our liberties and constitutional rights.

Get a grip on reality of who we are as a nation.

Please review the plaque at our statue of liberty!!!

If you are shamed and embarrassed, well, good. You should be.

100 years ago all those immigrants were screened and vetted through Ellis Island. They didn't just walk in and claim "free shit". You could at least make an attempt to be intellectually honest.

The plaque at the Statue of Liberty is an ideal. The reality was stepping off the boat at Ellis Island and entering the country only after an inspection and meeting required standards for entry. Those that failed were put back on the boat. For a reason.

    These are your words, in context.;

"Get a grip on who we are as a nation......"

    and

"Our founding fathers signed........" (implying a right to unfettered immigration).

Our country was founded on the desire for freedom of religion, self government, and individual rights. Immigration was the means to grow a new nation with untapped resources. It wasnt intended to be used for welfare at our expense.

Our founding fathers experienced oppression and exploitation by a monarchy that they fought and defeated. They saw immigration as the means to grow this country economically and geographically in a day and age when territorial expansion offered opportunity. They offered immigrants the opportunity to better themselves though hard work and perseverance. They offered citizenship for serving in the military. They made no provision for immigrants to be supported by the gov at the expense of its citizens. Nor be rewarded by violating its laws.

To suggest that adhering to the colonialist ideals of a newly formed nation of a different day and age, that has evolved into a country and society they would see as alien and incomprehensible, is ludicrous. They did not anticipate the use of immigration to fragment and destabilize our nation and its ideals. Their intent was to build a nation. Not become a refuge for people who want what they have not earned.

We still accept over 1,000,000+ legal immigrants a year. The problem is the 1,000,000+ who come illegally, cutting in line and cheating out those who have waited their turn.

Its not an opinion founded on relevance, if that were the case, its construct would focus on persuasive argument, , not an appeal to historical irrelevance and emotion.

President Obama, through executive order, and through, literally, phone conversations with ICE and the State Department, changed the way we had handled immigration- legal and illegal- for over 100 years.

I have several friends and a renter who are all retired or current border patrol agents. In 2008 they were ordered to stop ALL workplace raids and spot enforcement actions - at least in Texas they were-I didn't ask if that was nationwide, but my guess is that it was, and within 3 months all of their funding for things from gasoline and vehicle repair work to overtime hours went from SOP filling out of forms to requiring executive level approval.

One of the biggest changes started under Clinton, when the enforcement of the law requiring immigrants' sponsors to actually pay for their charges' debts and living expenses was 'de-emphasized' and from that point on, ignored almost completely.

We are a nation of immigrants. Absolutely. But we are also a nation of law and order. Of rational thinking. We have laws in place that require us to inspect and vet prospective and current immigrants. We have laws in place that require immigrants to have sponsors, and to not be affiliated with crime or terrorism...but as usual, congress won't do their actual jobs, and bleat like goats or pigs when others actually try to do their own.

I get harrassed and forced to put a scarlet letter on my face in the form of a mask if I have allergies at the dr office because of Ebola and these folks are allowed to walk right in.

Seems a bit odd to me. Then again these feelings make me all kinds of "ists's" in some eyes. Too bad I couldn't care less about hysterical fools.

I'm a bit too worried about real deadly infections from afar.

Funny, again, the same hysterical fools were ready to lock people up or forcefully immunize some Jews recently over measles.

    Confusing taint it?
