I've been contemplating it off and on for a while. i guess it has the potential to save me some components.
It can. It also opens you up to a whole new level of what's usable in your desired round as far as powder goes vs what little data you can find. Before I would try and go off burn rate of listed powder and adjust from there for starting loads. Downside is not all powder is cut the same so case fill can vary. With ql it tells you case fill before you even try. Know some things take tweaking. Take my 6 creed its pre listed with hornady brass so when switching to gunwerks I had to adjust capacity in the program. Before I would have dropped far more than I needed and worked back up. I knew what velocity ran great in hornady so I shot for that and it worked out just perfectly.

My 20" 6x45 barrel should be in a week or 2. It would be good for that work-up. Trying to find a load for the barrel I have now was a PITA.

There are ways to do optimum barrel time which is supposed to show accuracy nodes but I've not delved into it much yet.

How are you measuring case capacity?

I was thinks Ng about taking a few f my 7-08 cases and seating a primer backwards, then filling with water and weighing. Is that a reasonable way to measure? I came to this conclusion because some cartridge data I've seen lists grains of h2o as case capacity.

Why not? They show to accept CC's.
Called them and asked. Was told the company which handles their CC purchases was down for a while. Should be back up by tomorrow, we'll see.

ETA: As of 3:45 this afternoon, still ain't working. I'll try again on Monday.

... A major change without changing the name is a bad idea....

ANY major change without a name change would be without precedent.

To say that the reloading industry is founded on precise consistency would be an understatement.

Our lives depend on a culture of predicable performance.

An overpressured 45 ACP in my palm is scary enough.
An overpressured .338 Lapua or 30-378 against my cheek is terrifying.

That's the exact way to measure.

I use them a lot and only have had great luck. The only odd thing is your bill will say Gene Sears Supply which is the store front the third gen is the online part. Not a big deal but something to know and it may not be that way anymore as I haven't paid that much attention the last few times I ordered.

    Today was unloading day.

I hit the range and ran though around 500 rounds of 9mm and a couple hundred .45 ACP.

I found a .45 load that's really soft shooting and dead nutz accurate.

    Now that’s a scope!

rmantoo, you mentioned your cool little rifle and I guess I obsessed on “little”. I’m completely fascinated with “little” guns, hence, many bullpups and short barreled pistols like the g29 and xdm3.8 with full size grip!

    Thanks for the pics!

No problem. For me, it's little in that I've been playing with heavy AR10s and 300win mag and 338 lapua rifles for a while, so going back to something that weighs ~6-7lbs feels super lightweight.

Eotech are l.o.w. built in Japan. Much like the bushnell elite line, nightforce lower stuff and a few other scopes. They build a good product imo.

Only eotech I messed with much was a first run and I wasn't overly impressed with the turret feel or the reticle options (newer reticle option are better) but those are more subjective to the user.

Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Never seen an Eotech scope before. Only seen the holographic sites.

So far I absolutely love it...that said, all my scopes before this were tasco, simmons, weaver, or 20 year old leupolds, mostly 3-9x, so this is an AMAZING upgrade for me.

I have a buddy who has this exact scope. It was the first FFP glass I'd ever tried, and when this one came up on snipershide for less than a vortex viper, with the aero precision mount, I snapped it up. It's simply, to me, amazing.

I contacted Eotech about buying a sunshield, and they sent me one COMPLETELY FREE!! I normally buy as much as I can used, but with customer service like that (and I haven't been an actual direct customer yet) I will go out of my way to patronize them in the future.

About 2 weeks after I got this one, I also bought an Athlon Chronus 4.5-29x, and this scope compares to the Athlon very well, imho. Not as powerful, obviously, but in clarity, and turret feel, it would be hard to knock the Eotech-- that being said, I'm a newbie to high end scopes, obviously, so I can't really criticize the reticle shape/format, or using the scope's higher end features...

I cast 200 of these 240gr HPs for my 44 mags. I'll be taking a few of these with me come deer season.

BTW, the forum kept stopping this one from uploading because it though it was pornography. I can't say I disagree, lol.

Those are purty! You ever feel like selling a few let me know.

I've been packing to move little by little. It's so damn hot in my garage it's hard to do anything. I need a portable air conditioner. Loading reloading supplies into boxes sucks.

I wouldn't mind doing that, but believe it or not, you have to have an FFL to do that legally. Pretty stupid huh?

That absolutely sucks but it also explains where all the small bullets guys went.

I don't think it's difficult to get or maintain. It looks to be as easy to get as a C&R FFL, and it's just as cheap. I'm guessing what drove the little guys out was a combination of overhead and not being able to compete with the large established companies. I imagine liability insurance isn't cheap and ate quite a bit of any profits they little guys were able to get. There's also that ITAR BS that manufacturers have to deal with.

It's pretty stupid that doing something as innocent as selling off a few pounds of lead that just happen to be in the shape of bullets could land you in trouble with the Feds.

Oh, and for those interested in what mold I was using, it's a semi custom mold from MP Molds. I got it in a group buy a while back on another forum. It's called the 44 Terminator. It was designed to maximize case capacity for 44 special when used in a gun with a cylinder long enough to accommodate it a lot of Ruger's revolvers. My S&W 629 had plenty of space for it when loaded into a 44 mag. The hydro-static shock that these things cause when shot through water jugs is massive. They should work beautifully on medium sized game like deer. The solid version would probably be good for a bear defense round.

Mine's a plain base version, so it's weights are about 5 grains heavier than the listed ones. The bullets I cast used the large HP pins.

Primed up 100 more 458 SOCOM cases, plan to get them loaded this week. Time to dial in a load for accuracy. Got them cycling well now, now to get more accurate.
