Got the grips. I really like how they look and feel. I'm not sure if I still want to paint the gun or not. Other than FDE, what colors might go well with the grips?

Welp, think I will leave it as is. I plan on shooting the absolute crap out of it over the next year, and it's probably going to show quite a bit of holster wear as a result. No point in prettying it up. The new grips feel great, and are just right in terms of aggressiveness. They are not too sharp, but still provide more than enough grip. I tried shooting lead in it again, and 100 rounds later I was cleaning what looked like a sewer pipe... Looks like I'm going to be ordering some plated bullets. I'm wanting to use this gun in IDPA and Steel Challenge, so I'll probably go with 147gr RN bullets. I think I'm going to order some Mec-Gar mags too. The factory mags suck ass.

Welll glad they have some texture. They looked slick and slippery over here in peanut gallery. We used to have a mechanical minded farmer down at Corpus who turn out some works of art. His specailty on slab grips was a chunk of a rattle snake skin on the bottom of plexiglas. Mighty handsome but prob hard to hang onto when slaying large groups of bad guys. He had a machine shop etc. If a person brought him the kit he could turn an M1 Carbine into an M2 quicker than a minner can swim a dippper It might take a bit longer for those without a kit He was a good old boy.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but those grips actually have quite a bit of texture to them. The pattern you see is created groves cut into the grip, which are pretty deep. The tops of the peaks have been ground flat so that they are not sharp. In a super heavily recoiling gun, I'm sure these grips would eat your hands up. In a heavy 9mm, they're great though.

I bet that plexiglass was slick. Imagine trying to hold on to that with sweaty hands!

Hey, those grips look nice. I was looking at Hogue since I have a pair on my Model 15. But I might reconsider. I know everyone was joking about you having a PT 92 instead of a Beretta 92. But I've had both and I only have the PT 92 left. Goes bang every time for half the price. And, most importantly to me, the safety/decocker is where John Browning and God put it, on the frame. No more putting the safety one when doing a combat clear and pulling the slide back too hasty.

I love MecGar magazines and if I can't get a factory at a good price, I buy MecGar. I run them in my P226 and P229 and they're great!

Maybe, if you're into it, you can have someone engrave something special on the slide then paint it a contrasting color. Or not....
