    8.5 lbs without the scope? That's not a high country rifle unless you have a sherpa.
    A Kimber Adirondack at 4.8 lbs is a high country rifle. Add a 12oz Swarovski and carry 5 165g rounds and you could hike all day without breaking a sweat.
    Unless by high country you mean Colorado (see what I did there?)...

    I must admit, I used to be a snob about Savage rifles due to my ignorance. I was justly schooled by a few people on here and bought a couple of them. I'm a convert. If you can shoot sub 0.1"groups, I'll concede. Hands down the best rifles for the money.

    They shoot very well. Can't dispute that. I know they weren't worth a crap many moons ago.

    I understand where your coming from. But, 8.5 is light compared to my other rifles. Your above setup is damn good though.
