I bet if there were a half dozen Texans with guns in a place where there wasn't a wall it would be all quiet there too.

I predict Trump will declare a national Al emergency for the wall on Feb 8.

Cohen testifies to Congress on Feb 7.

I'm hoping he does it sooner.

Declare a national emergency tomorrow and tell both houses to re-open the government and pay the federal workers. I think we all desire that take place.

In doing so he looks strong and presidential to his base. That may internally be his prime directive.
Fed employees get paid, Yosemite toilets get cleaned, home loans get approved....yada, yada, yada...

Courts argue the emergency declaration for a year and nobody cares as the wall gets built by the Army Corp of Engineers.
The defense department ends up spending 75.8 billion in the wall but all that money is channeled right back into our economy through Texan workers, midwest coal fired steel mills, central TX cement plants and every fast food place on the border!

    Win, win, win.
No zero-sum game here! None needed.

That's a good idea, but, we will probably see the materials coming from China and the labor coming from Mexico.

Hope you are right but she is only concerned with her speakership and that could loose her far left.
I'm afraid Trump is going to have to do it with natl emergency. It will be a fight but will leave him in a position of strength. IMHO (that and .02 might get you a cup of coffee) :-)

    Nope.
    Pelosi will cave.

Yes, and that would be a win for Trump.

But I think the wall is a necessary but insufficient solution according to the recent interviews I've heard from leaders in the border patrol world.

They want, in addition to the wall, the high tech components to include better communications, enhanced surveillance equipment, better detainment facilities, field medical gear.
That is what the DOD really excels at.

If Pelosi caves that is an enormous emotional victory and I don't belittle that, but if she were to acquiesce we then get a wall, much congressional debate and little to solve the core problems.
Superficially, a political win but an inadequate solution to the problem.

The border needs the gear we send to Afghanistan and Syria and all those quiet bases in central Africa perhaps. Keep that money and gear stateside.

The DOD money is effectively infinite.

    Agree.

But he'll look strong and our fed workers get paid.
He needs to declare the emergency and turn it over to the DOD and courts.

I'm clearly for the wall, though the wall alone, without far reaching technological measures and meaningful immigration reform will accomplish little or nothing.

I'm increasingly disgusted that our federal employees, many of our best citizens, are financial pawns in a political pissin' match fueled by Trumps ego.

Time for GOP congressmen and women to say "enough"... or for Trump to man-up and do something presidential rather than purely self serving. He gives not a flip about Texas or the border. He's only about Fox soundbites and 2020.

    Declare the emergency already.

Pelosi is a determined strong-willed woman. Raise your hand, all who have prevailed over such a soul.

    This...formerly on 281....comes to mind.

    HKShooter,

SORRY, but you are DEAD WRONG. = This mess is the FAULT of the RADICAL, ANTI-USA, LEFT-WING of the DIMocRATS Party. - Even the vast majority of the ICE & Border Patrol agents (who are NOT being paid) want President Trump to STAND STRONG until the DIMocRAT swine like Pelosi & Schumer collapse.
(I still have friends who work on "The Hill" & they tell me that the DP "leadership" is TERRIFIED that their base will soon turn on them & fear that the election of 2020 is already LOST.)

Invho, it's time for the POTUS to put on MORE pressure on the DIMs until the LEFTIST HATERS & BIGOTS surrender unconditionally & FUND 100% of the border fence.

Final thought before I get in the hot tub with the wife.

I'd love to bring ammo, some good American Pale Ale from a Texas microbrewery and take Trump out and teach him to shoot that Barrett M82A1. It's got an older style flash hider so I think it's less likely to be an M107.(and a good optic that it's lacking, I'll bring that too)

And darn. One of the dogs, 60 minutes ago, carried a stunned and saliva-covered opossum into the kitchen and sort of stifled any "mood" that said wife might have been accumulating. Girls are funny that way.

    HKShooter,

YEP. I've had any number of "trophies" brought into the house by my various dogs/cats, over the last 50 years. - Once it was a 2-foot copperhead, that "Goldie" brought into our bedroom.
    (YIKES.)
