Yep, I have 500 rounds in my cart at Academy, but I too am going to wait.

If I remember correct people were unloading their over stock on TGTrader around this time last year. I just messaged a guy about a case for $220. That's a good deal and no shipping time!

What is the going rate these days for Yugo SKS?

Like the $99 Mosin or $299 AK, I think they days of the cheap SKS are in the past. Used to be a Yugo could easily be found for $300-350, now it seems like they're running about $400+ (which is why the 59/66 on Facebook for $350 is a deal, as is the Classic sale). All that seems odd as the gun market is down at the moment (just look at how inexpensive you can pick up an AR these days!), but ComBloc firearms are on the rise. You can probably still find deals via private sales, but for the most part you can consider yourself lucky if you find one under four bills....

Well, since you guys seem to like SKS's here's one you might not have seen before, it's an Albanian variant. Only about 3,000 made it into the US.

I used to have quite a few SKS's, the Albanian was my rarest find, but I also had a Romanian one and of course a few Russian ones. The one I always wanted to get ahold of was one of the North Korean ones.

The Albanian "July 10" rifles are not that uncommon, I have seen several over the years at gun shows; but 3K imported may be true given that the total production only numbered 15K-20K.

I have always wanted to pick one up, but wasn't sure they were worth the price. They are "different" from other SKS rifles, the longer stock and handguard plus the AK -style charging handle makes them distinctive. The buttstock also has two cleaning hole pockets...

However, the North Korean variants are true unicorns, known as being one of the "holy trinity" (NK, North Vietnamese and East German). I would love to see any one of those in the flesh! :D

    Cheers! M2

Present or accounted for, thanks to you. A friend stopped by several years ago with a new M59 Yugo and insisted I need to buy it to match his. It was cheap enough that I had no reason to say no. I had put it away and forgotten about it until now but it will soon be resurrected.

I have a Polu-automatska puška (PAP) M59 (easily recognizable by the lack of a grenade launcher or flip up sight/gas block) as I had to have one of the "original" Red Star (Preduzece 44) Arsenal rifles. The receiver and barrel assembly will drop into a Russian stock without any modification and appear to be exact copies. Production lasted until 1967 with 226,560 being produced.

However, the addition of the 22mm rifle grenade launcher made the 59/66 an even sweeter rifle! I have a M68 practice grenade that will work on it, but I don't know if I want to test it out... :D

    Top to Bottom:

    Romanian as issued
    Chinese / Vietnam bring back
    Russian unissued / unrefurbished.
    Chinese / Norinco import

Another view of the Vietnam bring back with a Vietnam bringback type 54 (both acquired from the same individual).

Mine is still in jail. Have the cash to pay it off, but don't have the time to get by.

    My trigger finger itches.
