We had a Special Agent who was using agency resources to download child pornography 24 hours a day. It was actually telecomm that caught him because they saw long distance connections running 24 hours and wondered why. This was back in the days of price differentials for long distance and dial-up modems.

Since he had enough years in, he was allowed to retire. A week after, he was arrested. It was a PR stunt. The agency didn't have to admit to having a perv on staff. They could brush it off as him only being a "former employee". The PR folks thought that was very important.

Maybe if this guy is old enough and has enough years in, they'll offer him some sort of reduced retirement benefit insted of firing him. Ya never know.

NOTE - I'm not saying this guy deserves any mercy but I do have some sympathy for his wife and kid.

    +1

He probably deserves an ass whoopin more than anything else, maybe not have his life ruined.

On the other hand, you do the crime and threaten a woman, you got what's coming.

I also don't know if here is the place that I would immediately document all this, at least to this extent.

Whoa dude. I am not too far from there and have been right by there a few times... something about a really cute girl, then her really cute sister... Any way, if you need it checked on, I am already in Brazoria county. I might even be convinced to take care of a few pesky hogs if you say please, lol.
I'd love the help but that's not really practical, especially the hog part. The property is land-locked along with some other tracts. We've all been playing a game where we try to sell to each other for at least a decade and a half because no one wants to assert their right to cut a right-of-way to the road. In my case, for example, the access easement to my property just happens to run right through the garage and the only large tree remaining on the land of the guy between me and the road.

Yes, it's his fault that he built on an easement. However, if I assert my rights to access, I'd have to bulldoze so much of his land he really wouldn't have a usable plot left. There's no use creating an instant, white-hot-angry enemy as a neighbor and knowing that everything on your property will be trashed as soon as you drive away. Thus, I've never done it. He knows I never will so he's not willing to buy the property, either. It just feels to him like he has a few more acres of back yard, even if he never hops the fence and uses it for anything.

I've actually tried to donate the land to charity and been refused.

I can only say that whoever laid out that "subdivision" did a piss-poor job of it. Also, never let anyone pay off a loan with land unless you've seen it first. :)

ETA: Come to think of it, last year the county did nearly double the valuation of the land. Maybe there's some activity in the area I don't know about. Yep, I really should go down there and have a look after I get back from Hicksville.

Sounds like poor original planning and a bad situation. Maybe you could just build a helicopter landing pad on it.

I sure wish I had the time to get that all straightened out for you.

I live and breath land (guns are actually fifth to seventh on my list believe it or not).

It wouldn't take but a few hours of courthouse time, a little foot work on the dirt and some time on the phone.

I shot you a PM with my contact info. If you want me to walk you through it sometime in the evening I'd be glad to tell you the process, where to start, the order of steps and how to handle the phone calls (with practical knowledge of applicable law, first and foremost being those concerning right of ingress & egress). There are ways of obtaining access to your property without bulldozing your neighbors stuff and without pissing them off too badly.

I would imagine depending on the length of time it has set fallow or un-cared for you could possibly be in danger of losing it in an adverse possession situation.

You have other options as well that we can discuss.

Donation to a charity is not going to be feasible because they would adopt the same issues and a tax bill.

I could write a book here but don't have time. Just call me one evening (after 6) when you get a chance.

That is extremely generous. Thank you so much and, yes, I will call. However, it'll be after Hicksville. I've got way too much on my plate right now.

One note, though - I don't really fear an adverse possession. I still get billed every year for the taxes and if someone was serious about doing an adverse possession, paying my taxes for me is, as I understand it, a pretty critical step.

No need to reply. We can talk next week or the one after.

    Thanks again.

Sounds good. BTW, your inbox is full so you'll have to do a little house cleaning before my PM will go through.

Maybe I'm crazy, but If I had two illegally parked poach-mobiles on my land I'd arrange the situation so the poachers leave without their game AND guns. They're mine now. "Yes- my fee for hunting on my land is 100% of the kills and also your guns. Now you guys know why no one hunts here."

Is it legal to steal guns from tresspassing poachers lol?

I guess they wouldn't call the cops on you if they had any wits about them, but seeing as to how they're trespassing and poaching, they're probably not that smart to begin with.

    Update is coming.

I promise. Just having to put a whole lot of work into doing it right.

I think you guys are going to like this. Unless of course you're into trespassing, poaching and general criminal activity.

Spoiler: Drove in last night from Odessa. Caught a few hours of sleep then met with the District Judge, District Attorney and County Sheriff this morning.

They're all very interested and excited about what I am doing.
